Retro-style furniture is featuring increasingly in interior schemes, and what better way to introduce it into your home than by upcycling a piece of original furniture that’s in need of some love. For inspiration, take a look at Cassie Fairy’s Lloyd Loom chair makeover, reupholstered with tropical-themed fabric created with iron-on transfers (page 54), or Kate Beavis’s on-trend 1950s kidney-shaped table designed from a set of old table legs and an offcut of MDF (page 67).
Now that the evenings are getting lighter, you may be thinking of adding some style to your garden or patio. Discover how easy it is to weave a new chair cover (page 88), create an ivy topiary from an old sieve (page 82) or add a touch of comfort with a cushion made from vintage jeans (page 90).
This month we also look at the work of four talented textile artists who pull together assorted second-hand or unwanted materials to create beautiful pieces, plus Max McMurdo talks about his workshop move and new campervan project,
Charis Williams meets an artist who does amazing work with driftwood and resin, and Annie Sloan lets her imagination run away with her to paint a unique set of drawers.
